Notes on Revelation 2:12-17
Jesus tells the church that He has a few things against them. He mentions two false teachings in particular: the teaching of Balaam and the teaching of the Nicolaitans. Jesus warns the church to repent of these false teachings or face judgment.

Do You Partake of the Bread of Life?
Jesus pointed out to His hearers that it was not Moses who gave them manna to eat but God, and now God the Father was providing and offering to them “the true bread from heaven” that “gives life to the world.”

'Be faithful until death, and I will give you the crown of life'
Though we are saved entirely by God’s grace and mercy toward us for Christ’s sake (cf. Eph. 2:8-10), we are commanded to remain faithful to Christ — even until death — and He promises us a crown of life.

What can we do to be saved?
Like the rich young ruler who came to Jesus and asked Him, “What good thing shall I do that I may have eternal life?” (Matt. 19:16), the people asked Jesus, “What shall we do, that we may work the works of God?”

Why do you come to Jesus?
Jesus’ words still ring true today. Why do people call on pastors and churches? Why do you come to the church of Jesus? Is it to hear the Word of God and learn of the salvation Jesus won for all by His innocent sufferings and death?
